Alice Water Smart Rebates and Retrofits: Media Enquiry for Waterwise Schools

In response to your media enquiry on behalf of Hon Warren Snowdon MP's office I can confirm that on Tuesday 23 October 2012 Alice Water Smart presented certificates of appreciation to 9 Alice Springs' schools for their participation in the Alice Water Smart Rebates and Retrofits project. Under Alice Water Smart this is an extension of the Waterwise Schools program and is managed by the Alice Water Smart consortium partner, the NT Department of Land Resource Management (DLRM).

The attached media release (at Attachment 1) was distributed for the event and provides more specific details. This will also provide guidance on the key messages we are focusing on under the Alice Water Smart communications strategy.

The Alice Water Smart communications strategy only includes promotion of the overall funding for the program (i.e. $15 million). As there are up to eight (8) individual projects running concurrently, promotion of the overall funding amount keeps the particular community benefit and goals of Alice Water Smart in sharper focus. For this reason, there may be sensitivities surrounding promotion of the specific Waterwise project funding amounts and identification of the funding receipts provided to individual recipients (i.e. the schools individually).

However, in accordance with our consortium reporting, the Alice Water Smart Waterwise Schools program manager DLRM has prepared the following table which highlights specific details and water savings expected for each school presented with certificates of appreciation last week.
